The Haven
House
Created by Jerry A. Woodcock
Safe, secure and independent.  From
within the Haven House, a dwelling which
practically redefines these qualities, one
can have peace of mind from knowing the
inhabitants are relatively safe from
earthquakes, fires and storms while
enjoying, as well, the serenity which
comes with self-sufficiency.  Besides being
a structurally resilient building, the Haven
House is also a greenhouse, a fishery, an
orchard, a solar power collector and a rain
collector.  It lends itself very well to
whatever degree of independence one
aspires to have.
Too good to be true?  Too expensive?
Not so.  The Haven House is all of the
above and more.  And its cost compares
favorably with that of a typical 4,000
square foot, four bedroom home.  It is
constructed of cast in place floors, pre-cast
concrete columns, beams and lower
exterior walls and has over 1,000 square
feet of shuttered glazing.  A wrap around
balcony greatly increases the usable floor
space and a central air shaft along with
retractable glass walls with screens ensure
fresh air to all levels and areas.  The
interior finish of the Haven House can be
any of an endless array of custom designs
but an abundance of fresh air, sunshine
and open space will allow any layout to be
a veritable Garden of Eden.
